Black Heart Sassafras is Native to Tasmanian and is found many in wet forests next to rivers and streams. The timber varies in colour from white to black, this colour is a water stain that forms when the top or branch is broken off.
Blackheart Sassafras is getting harder to source and is highly sought after by woodworkers and luthiers for musical instruments.
Generally this timber is used for making guitar and ukuleles backs and sides with the timber being quarter sawn and book matched
